•	Anderson Island, Pierce County: The Goose Island scenes were actually filmed at Anderson Island.

•	Darrington, Snohomish County: Some interior sets were built at the Darrington High School gymnasium. Also, Matthew Broderick's scene on a payphone was at a general store about five miles out of town on Highway 530.

•	Lake Chelan, Chelan County.

•	Newhalem, Whatcom County: The NORAD headquarters set was built here in the Cascades.

•	Seattle, King County: Boeing Field substituted for the Oregon airport.
