![]() This ranting scene, filmed on Baker Street at Bay Street at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, was edited out of the original release. Even the restored version on the DVD, though, did not include the rest of this scene which involved the camera pulling up into the air and then continuing over the City. As the view passed over 1101 Green Street, we would have seen two babes playing badminton on the roof. Eventually, the shot would have combined with the one below....
![]() ![]() This aerial view over North Beach is all that remains of a much longer sequence of footage over the City that was shot on Saturday, 9 June 2001. This shot was tweaked with visual effects to create its interesting look during the zoom-in.
![]() These introductions were shot at Kearny and Vallejo Streets in North Beach, San Francisco.
![]() The nightclub exterior is The Blue Bar, located underneath the Black Cat Café at 501 Broadway at Kearny Street. |
![]() The interior, though, was built at Los Angeles Center Studios in Downtown Los Angeles, on the same lot as the L.A. production office (the S.F. production office was in the Presidio).
![]() This is west on Clay Street at Waverly in Chinatown. |
![]() And this is north on Waverly at the same intersection.

![]() This is the Golden Gate Bridge which connects San Francisco to Marin County.
![]() While Diaz and Applegate's car scenes were filmed in Southern California, various aerial shots or out-the-window elements were filmed in Northern California at places like Lucas Valley Road in San Rafael, Conzelman / Bunker Roads in the GGNRA, Coleman Valley Road near Occidental, and more. Please contact me if you can narrow down which roads belonged to which shots.
![]() The exterior of Gallini's was Wilkes Bashford at 375 Sutter Street between Stockton and Grant Streets.

![]() The entrance into the fictional town of Somerset is Dornan Drive at Miller-Knox Regional Shorline Park in Point Richmond, CA.
![]() Also in Point Richmond, this view looks south along Park Place where it splits off of Washington Avenue. |
![]() The exterior of Vera's House of Beauty is the post office on Washington Avenue. The interior was filmed in L.A.
![]() This bench was shot at 105 Park Place, but, interestingly, the bench is not visible in the establishing shot above. Also, would Peter Donahue really have had a (510) number three hours north of the Bay Area? Yes, the scene may have been filmed in the (510) of Point Richmond, but the fictional town of Somerset would either be located somewhere in the (707) or (530). |
![]() San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
![]() Fresno Alley, between Romolo and Kearny Streets. |
![]() The guy in the striped jacket is director Roger Kumble and the cop is security guard Manny Rodriguez. Also, since I worked full-time in the production office as the APOC, this scene, filmed on the Peter Macchiarini Steps of Kearny Street at Fresno, was the only one that I happened to see being filmed.
![]() The café was a fake set-up at Pier 7 on the Embarcadero. |
![]() Rosemary's Bakery & Café, 101 Park Place, Pt. Richmond.
![]() The exterior of the apartment is 1151-1159 Kearny Street. |
![]() This is Broadway between Montgomery & Kearny.
![]() This is also 1151-1159 Kearny Street, but at night. |
![]() The taxi splash scene was at Vallejo & Grant Streets. An entire additional scene that was filmed at the Marriott Hotel, 55 -4th Street, was removed from the film and not included on the DVD.
![]() The inside joke here is that the police officer on the left actually is executive producer Ricky Strauss in an uncredited cameo. Stuart M. Besser also produced 40 Days and 40 Nights and Scream, both of which were also filmed in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. |
![]() That's me! I was the Assistant Production Coordinator.
