 Estes Park, Larimer County: The Stanley Hotel, located at 333 West Wonder View Avenue (Route 34) off MacGregor Parkway in Estes Park, was Stephen King's inspiration for the Overlook Hotel when he wrote the original novel. It was not used for the Stanley Kubrick version of the film (Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood, Oregon, was used instead), but it was the major filming location for this TV miniseries remake by Mick Garris in 1997. |
