The courtroom scenes, including the hallway just outside, were filmed on a stage built at Building 24
on Monarch Street at West Tower Avenue on the former Alameda Naval Air Station. |
 
 
Contrast each of these two sets of pictures. Notice the height of the windows in relation to the lamp? Costing 2½ million dollars, this was because the ceiling of this set was built to be raised and lowered. Director of photography John Toll wanted the high ceiling for better lighting, while director Francis Ford Coppola preferred the low ceiling for intimacy. |
