![]() The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge had just been completed about four years before the movie's release. |
![]() Though it looks like a mistake, the Ferry Building probably did once have this sign saying Golden Gate Bridge. Notice the second half which says Fiesta May 27. This was probably to advertise the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937. It does seem to imply, though, that the filmmakers used stock footage since production occurred in Summer 1941.
![]() Another shot of the Bay Bridge. |
![]() Looking east along Mission and Howard Streets, ending at the Embarcadero. Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island are in the distance.
![]() Spade & Archer's detective agency was supposed to be at 111 Sutter at Montgomery Street, but the scenes in the movie were probably filmed in Los Angeles.
![]() ![]() Miles Archer was killed at Burrit Alley, just off Bush Street above the Stockton Tunnel.
![]() I do not know if the Bailey Theatre and Hotel Belvedere really existed in San Francisco or if these scenes were filmed in L.A.
![]() This scene at the piers on the Embarcadero was definitely filmed in Los Angeles notice the L.A.F.D. logos on the firefighters' helmets! |
![]() This was supposed to be Burlingame, San Mateo County, but it too was probably filmed in Los Angeles.
