     The fictionarl "Taft Hotel" was filmed at the Ambassador Hotel, 3400 Wilshire Boulevard, Koreatown, Los Angeles. This was back when the hotel was still in business. It's now been closed since 1989 and primarily used as a movie set location. The middle shot is a composite of several in a right-to-left pan, hence Dustin Hoffman appearing thrice in the picture. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

  This appears to be the corner of Durant and Dana Streets in Berkeley. The wall and red fencing are below Ida Sproul Hall at Unit 3, and the blue sign and shrubs are in front of the church.  Again, Hoffman is heading to Berkeley, but, in real life, he is driving on the westbound span of the bridge from Yerba Buena Island towards San Francisco. |
 These are the Unit 1 Residence Halls on the 2600 block of Durant Avenue at College. The large building is Deutsch Hall and the perpendicular one (obscured by the tree) is Cheney Hall. The Dining Commons is under the red curved roof, but this building was demolished in March 2003 as part of the expansion of Unit 1. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
 This is the Theta Delta Chi fraternity house (commonly known as Chia-Frat because of the ivy-covering). It is at 2647 Durant Avenue and is directly across the street from Unit 1's Freeborn Hall (Freeborn and Putnam mirror Deutsch and Cheney on the other side of the D.C. in the previous picture). I lived at Freeborn for three years between 1995-1999, as a resident and later as an R.A. |
 Here's another fun geography error. Benjamin is heading south to Santa Barbara, but here he's driving north through the Gaviota Tunnel. This is at Gaviota State Park next to Las Cruces, south of Buellton on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
