Looking north along the Golden Gate Bridge towards Marin County. The reason the shot is from below the bridge is because the crew was pressed for time this avoided having to show the tubes that go across the bridge in the future. |

From Cinefex Magazine, Issue #49, this behind-the-scenes picture shows the creation of the models used for the previous Golden Gate Bridge shot, "Modelmaker Kim Smith paints a hillside complex built by John Goodson for a wideshot of the sprawling headquarters established in previous films as overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge". |

In the establishing shot of the Khitomer Conference, the Klingon and Human on the balcony above the pool were shot at the Fireman's Fund on San Marin Drive, Novato. The circular building in the background was shot elsewhere, and other elements were created by matte artists. The caption for the third picture read, "On stage at Matte World, matte cameraman Craig Barron prepares to photograph the Khitomer painting while artist Michael Pangrazio makes last minute modifications to his work." The interior of the Khitomer Conference scene was shot at the Brandeis-Bardin Institute off Tapo Canyon Road in Simi Valley, CA. |
