INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM |
| |
Coloma, El Dorado County: Portions of the whitewater scene (after falling out of the airplane) were filmed on the American River near Placerville. Supposedly, the exact spot was the Troublemaker Rapids on the South Fork American River at the Coloma Resort on Mt. Murphy Road, but I have not yet confirmed this. |
| |
Nicasio, Marin County: When Indiana Jones returned to the Indian village at the end of the movie, the live-action portion on the lower half of the screen was shot on a hill above Skywalker Ranch in Nicasio, while the upper half was a matte painting by Michael Pangrazio. |
| |
Novato, Marin County: The Shanghai airport scenes were shot at Hamilton Air Force Base, just east of the Ignacio section of Novato, possibly on or around 8 September 1983. |

|
| |
Twin Falls, Twin Falls County: Part of the shot where the yellow raft goes over the cliff was shot at Snake River Canyon, although the surrounding houses had to be covered with a matte painting. |
