  These are pictures from Grace Cathedral Episcopal Church, 1100 California Street. Look closely at the top of the second picture. Yes, that really is a gas station on top of Nob Hill! This was a Phillips Union 76 station, located where the Gramercy Towers Condominiums are now located at 1177 California at Jones. The gas station was destroyed around 1972 when construction began on what was originally supposed to be a Hyatt Hotel, until they were able to build the Embarcadero Hyatt instead. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
